The intervention area covers a wide linear area of the city centre, forming a powerful urban identity at the entry of the city from the Ethnarchos Makarios Street (which is the main route to Kalamata and the rest of Greece) to the central square of Messini. Dimitrios Koutsikas Street is the main street of the Open Mall, from its intersection with Ethnarchou Makarios Street to the central square. 

The Open Mall includes the central square and its surrounding streets, as well as a number of smaller streets and sidewalks located in its southern part. This area is the commercial centre of the city, the 'heart' of commercial life with most of the commercial and recreational shops.

Commonspace was in charge of the Special Architectural Study at the level of the Implementation Study and the Tender Documents, while also coordinating the planning team, which included electrical, mechanical, plumbing, environmental and landscaping studies, for the redevelopment of the shopping centre of Messini, within the framework of the "Open Shopping Centres" Action.
