Introducing MAINCODE: Designing Nature-Inspired Urban Climate Shelters!

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the MAINCODE project—an innovative initiative focused on transforming urban schoolyards into climate shelters through Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) and inclusive co-design processes!

European cities are facing the growing impacts of climate change, and MAINCODE takes action. By creating cooler, greener, and more inclusive spaces, starting with schoolyards in Turin, Italy and Halandri, Greece, this project paves the way for resilient urban living while empowering communities to shape their cities.

Τhe first Kick-Off Meeting:

🗓️ January 27–28, 2025

📍 Turin, Italy

🌟 Participants: Experts, local authorities, community representatives, and international partners

🎯 MAINCODE brings together partners from Italy (Torino Urban Lab, Comune di Torino, Politecnico di Torino), Greece (Commonspace Coop, Municipality of Chalandri), and Denmark (UNESCO Chair on Urban Resilience (SDU_Resilience) - South Denmark University), united to unlock regenerative urbanism and promote environmental justice.

This collaborative journey is just beginning—stay tuned for updates!
